Career Opportunities: Administrative Support Staff
Support Staff personnel are employed throughout the Bronx County District Attorney's Office. In addition to working in areas of finance and budget, human resources, payroll, operations, and records management, several support staff employees are filtered throughout the legal bureaus to assist in the handling of clerical duties, telephone reception, case preparation, and research. The Office also employs court stenographers, computer programmers and technicians, crime victim advocates, detective investigators, interpreters, and video technicians.
There are two ways in which to apply for support staff positions within the agency. First, in accordance with civil service law, support staff positions are usually filled with applicants who have taken an open-competitive civil service exam and are appointed from a certification listing.
Additionally, some support staff positions are randomly filled by non-competitive or provisional (walk-in) candidates when no list is available to hire from. Therefore, we recommend that applicants forward their resume which will be kept on file and reviewed when such occasions arise.
